Team History

The story of our team began at the year 2000. This year, our high-school, "Aviv", was established with its robotics division. Two years later, our school had yet to participated in any competition, but instead learned the basics of robotics and carried out few small internal projects. In 2003, our team joined the international "Fire Fighting Robot" competition. We were very successful in that competition. Taking the 2nd and 4th places in the Israeli championship, and 4th in the international championship. Although we had great success in the "Trinity Fire Fighting Robot" competition, we decided
to join a more challenging competition. It was decided to move to the FRC, and in 2005 we found ourselves pioneering the Israeli FRC branch, along with 11 more teams. In FRC we won the Israeli 2005 Rookie All-Star award, as well as fourth in the competition ranking. We participated in the world championship in Atlanta, and ranked 31th in the Newton Division, and that's how our 2005 FIRST experience ended. In 2006 our team participated once again in the FIRST competition, working harder than ever, we received the Engineering Inspiration award, and ranked 5th in the competition ranking. In the 2007 games we reached the Israeli finals, we got the Web Site Excellence Award which means we were being presented with an Award of Excellence for the 2007 Robotics Season for our website. In 2008 we reached the Israeli Finals and we won the "Chairman's Award", we reached the second place in the "Autodesk Inventor Award" and we won the "Autodesk Visualization Award". Last year we reached to the quarter final and we won the Engineering Inspiration Award. Steampunk currently has 19 students, from both 11th and 12th grade, and two mentors. team history
