KickOff

9/1, Saturday, 3 pm, "Aviv" high school auditorium is full of students, parents, graduates, teachers and mentors, all waiting for the beginning of the Kickoff transmission.Tension, anxiety and suspense were company also.
The Kickoff was ready to begin and to announce the beginning of six weeks of big effort. The game was presented and every second word was a "WOW".

With all the emotions and high motivation we went to the computers to read the game rules. Strategy crew was in a different room for higher concentration and not to lose any important law. It took us half an hour to learn the game deeply.
Back to the auditorium we sat ready to start the "single strategy", ready to start the show, while Strategy crew guided all the process.
We first started by thinking about all the operations the robot can do. Then we ranked the operations that the team believed are the most important for "Breakaway", and that list would be the goals we will try to achieve during the proximate six weeks, this would be the base of our project.

After infinite arguments we reached an agreement, and then divided into three groups- some built a small model of the arena made of polyurethane form (the model was proportional to the real-game arena), some built a small model of VEX and Bump (that are proportional to each other) to see how the robot should look like and how the systems work, and to check what the difficulties of passing the Bumps are.
The remaining team members translated the game rules to Hebrew. Many teams had difficulties understanding the game rules because it is written in English so we decided to help those teams and translate the rules to Hebrew.

A day later, in the Israeli Kickoff, we explained to other teams the game rules while demonstrating it on the arena model we built. We also used the VEX to present some optional systems and show some possible difficulties that the Bumps cause. After that we sent the translated game rules to FIRST Israel and also uploaded it to our site so everyone can see it and understand the game rules better.

After the Kickoff ended we can say we are proud of the results of it, and we hope this tradition of the Kickoff day, a day Steampunk #1577 waited for months, will continue in the next years.
