Yeled-Gym
During the summer holidays, several Steampunk members visited "YeledGym", a fitness club especially designed to create a healthy, fun environment for young children.
The YeledGym fitness club is equipped with various resources designed for assisting and developing young children from the ages of 6-13 that undergo various health-related issues, such as obesity, undeveloped muscles, etc The fitness club contains a physiotherapist specialized with diet-consultation.
We arrived at the club with the 2010 FRC® robot, and three FLL® robots. Then we let the children drive the robots, compete with FLL® robots on racing tracks, and play soccer with the 2010 FRC® robot.
After the event, we looked back on our procedures, and decided to ask ourselves how well we operated as a team, and whether the children at YeledGym had fun.
Interviewer: "What do you think the children gained from the event? What skills did they acquire?"
Interviewed: "During the event, we exposed a different aspect of technology to many of the participants. In addition, we guided them to ways in which a group of individuals can use teamwork innovatively in order to accomplish tasks which involve pre-thought and strategizing."
Interviewer: "How did you feel during the activity?"
Interviewed: "I felt as if we have contributed much of our knowledge (which we acquired during our involvement in Steampunk) to the children. I felt as if we were successful – we completed all of our objectives and had fun while doing so."
