Helping Other Teams


Like in every year, Steampunk recruit for helping other teams, and particularly rookie teams.
At the beginning of the year we hosted the rookie team of Yeruham and gave them general explanation about FIRST, about the progress of the project, and the sources for the technical knowledge. We also helped teams that phoned us for help while answering every possible question.
We also gave our phone number to rookie teams from Omer, Tel-Aviv, Be'er-Sheva, Gan-Yavne and some more, to provide them technical support so they can arrive the competition ready.
Before the Israeli Kickoff we translated all the game rules to Hebrew so even teams with bad English can understand the rules correctly.
We also built a small model of the field and explained the game rules to other teams during the Israeli Kickoff. We gave examples for optional systems and, using the bump model, we explained about the problems occurring by crossing the bump.

Last year, we took responsibility of Hadarim team from Hod Hasharon. They came to our school and we assisted them with building and gave them the tools they needed to work alone next years. Last year, as a result of our help, they got to the second place and won the Rookie Allstar award, and thus now they can work independently and be one of the best teams in Israel.
After our success with helping Hadarim team last year, we took responsibility of two other teams this year. The team of Petah-Tikva that joined FRC this year comes to get help from us and we provide them tools for their work. The team comes to get help whenever they need and we are happy to help them and to suggest them ideas.
The team of Natanya also comes to get help whenever they need and we give them all they need.

In addition, we also assist teams that call us everyday with any technical problems they have. Teams come to get help while knowing our doors are open for everyone.
Our site also includes sources for information and our personal cellphones so everyone can contact us in case of having problems.

Moreover, this is the second season consecutively we are given to test the Beta systems, and together with Mevo'ot Eiron we hosted in two evenings all the teams in Israel to get explanation about the changes of the systems since last year.
We also plan to organize a day in which we will go over the game rules with other teams to make sure they don't violate any rule and thus help them to prevent penalties.

Steampunk is proud to support teams all over Israel and to guide the new teams to implement FIRST's values. Every year we expand the support to other teams while giving them the tools and teaching them how to manage alone in the future and even help future teams themselves.
