Consolidation Days
Our robotics team contains students of both 11th grade and 12th grade (and one 10th grade) so each one experience the FRC project twice. During our preparation to the project, in addition to our technical studies and even before the year of study begins, we decided to organize some consolidation days. The objective of those days was to show the new students what they are facing using the knowledge of the students that already passed it once. Another goal was to meet between the team members and consolidate the team while creating positive atmosphere that would help us during the project where we need to work together as a team in order to achieve our maximum potential. After the concluding speech that was made by Steampunk 2009 members and talking about the mistakes we made last season so we don't repeat them, Steampunk 2010 met for an opening speech about the year to come and the hard work that gets closer and closer. In the speech the old students met with the new ones, and we were exposed to the new season of the project. We mad a first acquaintance with all the members and were asked to sign up for the forum so we can keep in contact with each other and talk about the activities of the team during the vacation.
Afterwards, we decided to organize another consolidation day in Ra'anana's park to know each other even better. We played social games such as "Catch the Flag", "Passing Package", etc. During the meal and the games we had a chance to know each other better by talking and laughing. We also had chances to know each other during the community service activities we did during the vacation and continued to know each other better as time passed and the project came closer.
After the project started we organized another consolidation day – barbecue on the beach. We arrived "Hof Hanechim" (handicapped beach) in Herzliya, barbecued, ate, laughed, played soccer on the beach, sprayed water on each other, and in short had fun together.
We continued to consolidate as the project passed and because of the long time we spent together we had enough time to make experiences together.
Before the Kickoff we did our last consolidation day. While barbecuing, we played many social games that combines coordination and team work. After laughing and having fun, we made a conversation about our expectations from the project and every student spoke about his hopes.
After many consolidation activities, we arrived the Kickoff ready to start the hard work and consolidated enough to work together as a team.
