A mentor is a person who guides an FRC® team. The mentor's role is to
lead the team members in the right path to the right ideas with an
innovative and creative process of thought, while teaching them how to
work both as individuals and as a team.
As part of a team, each
student is required to know how to cooperate in a team and what team
work means.
As an individual and as part of the FIRST® program, each
student is required to acknowledge the principles of FIRST®, to
understand their meanings and use them both in his life in general and specifically in the project .
In addition, each and every one of the
students has to know his or her own place in a team, and acknowledge
the importance of his or her role.
To our understanding, every
student, or team member is required to recognize the value of his or
her presence in this challenging project, since no team is able to
manage itself properly without the team member's presence and
assistance.
One of the many responsibilities of a mentor is to make
sure that each and every student is on the right path towards
accomplishing their defined goal or task.
Each and every team in the FIRST® competition has at least one mentor.
Our team has two mentors:

Uri Cohen is an electronic engineer. As head-mentor, Uri usually guides the software crew by helping them think of new ideas and developing new possible ways of programming the robot. He also helps the construction crew by sharpening the students' ideas and providing creative, alternative solutions when some are impossible to accomplish. Uri also helps the strategy crew by thinking with them on new ways of analyzing the game and manage their process of thought. Uri and Ido work together with the objective of framing our process of thought, and make sure we remain on track during our work.

Ido Yaffe, The past head builder in Steampunk in years 2008-09. Ido has decided to mentor "The Steampunk Expirence" for the year 2012. Ido Yaffe, a Steampunk senior, with much experience in the "FIRST fields", is currently assisting the group, and comes in handy when it comes to strategic planning, programming, and the very construction of the robot. Ido has previously mentored multiple FLL groups - a major source of experience and useful knowledge with the FIRST competitions.
