FLL Regional

competition and we were happy to find out that alot of people that didn't take part in the tournament came by to watch.

The physical work started at Saturday night when we needed to arrange the gym hall towards the tournament.
We set up the pit area, the competition tables, the judging rooms, the lights etc. The work went on into the night and was tiering but fun. We did everything we could so that the teams that arrive will feel the most comfortable they can in the day they worked all year for.

At Sunday and Monday, instead of enjoying the Purim celebration in our school we arrived in costumes full of spirit to the gym hall and started the work: in the entrance a registration table were set in which the teams got the day's schedule and confirmed their number. From there the teams proceeded to the pit area and organized towards the practice rounds. A number members from Steampunk were in charge of notifying the teams about their games beforehand so they arrive in time. When the teams arrived at the game court and competed, a number of our team members helped as refferes and counted the points and summed them up.

After the practice rounds, the presentation before the judges started. People from our team were responsible of notifying the teams and helped them with directions to the judging rooms. Some of us even were used as judges and enjoyed their work very much.

During all the event we stock to the schedule, if it was the judging and if it was the teams and the rounds and we made it in time even in the final rounds when the teams were at high pressure, we managed to navigate and made them keep on schedule and even finished earlier than usual.

At the ending ceremony we disturbed medals and certificate of participation to all those who took part in the tournament and we were happy the teams were glad.

Of course we felt proud and joyful when 3 of the FLL teams we mentor made it and went forward to the final tournament and won a prize for their research work and another one for the robot design.

At the end, we returned everything to normal, the hall, FIRST's equipment, and everything else. We did it in a fast and devoted manner.

After everything was finished, we received praise from FIRST, from the teams and from the gym owner, on the organization, the keeping on schedule and the hard work and we were event told it was the best FLL competition in 5 years of FLL in Israel.

We feel satisfaction from that we made so many kids happy and especially the kids from the south that went through a hard time, and we hope that by hosting this event we spread the FIRST spirit a bit further and that science will be brought forward by the young kids that will eventually become the great minds of their generation in time.
